Before & After

I have attempted to document the restoration of my 54 Vet and illustrate the processes I used.  In doing this the incremental nature of the project makes it difficult to see the overall impact of the effort - so - I am dedicating this section to showing the before and after photos.

The photos to the right are the car when I first started the restoration project / and a photo of the car when I took it on its first shake down drive (only one tail pipe extension fell off).

Blue Flame Six

The Corvette Blue Flame Six is a unique engine.  These photos not only show the work on the engine but also shows the work done on all the engine mounted assemblies and the engine compartment.

The photos don't do the wheels / hubcaps justice.  The old tires were weather checked and yellowed.  The hubcaps were dull and faded.  Fortunately the caps didn't require any metal work.  They were virtually dent free.

  THE  DASH

The interior was completely revitalized.  Several subtitle changes (corrections) are the steering wheel center (red not white), radio installed, speaker grills (lower pair painted white not black).  Defroster bezels are chrome.  All knobs, including the shifter are white not black and All the gages are refaced and work,

Day and Night huh?  Several things were missing in the original car.  Note the extension of the dash under the dash pad (doorpull), and the Sidewindow hardware (receiver and release knob) remember - there are no windows in the door itself. The seat shows what a new set of springs, proper padding and new seat covers can do.  All these materials came from Al Knoch.  I am still waiting on the seat backs.
